Celtic’s Champions League foes RB Leipzig get tough on shot-shy strikers Timo Werner and Andre Silva before Hoops clash

RB LEIPZIG boss Marco Rose has ordered his shot-shy strikers Timo Werner and Andre Silva to start being selfish when they play Celtic this week and turn chances into goals.

The Hoops travel to Germany this week for the first in their double-header against the German Cup winners in the Champions League.

But former Chelsea star Werner, who cost Leipzig £25 million in the summer, has only scored one goal in the Bundesliga up until today's game Bochum.

And Silva - who was the Bundesliga's top scorer just two years ago and scored 40 goals in just 48 starts for Eintracht Frankfurt - had failed to score at all in the league this season, up until yesterday.

Now Rose has demanded they raise their game ahead of the visit from the Scottish champions to the Red Bull Arena.

He said: "They both need to reward themselves sometimes and shoot. It is incredibly important for them to score more goals.

"They have both been guilty of passing to teammates in front of goal, instead of shooting, especially Timo.

"In training, they have been excellent and I want to see this on the pitch in the coming weeks because we have an unbelievable amount of games coming up.

"For the effort they both out in on the pitch, they absolutely deserve more goals.

"They are both good at getting themselves into positions to score and they'll start scoring at some point, because they certainly both have the quality.

"Once they start scoring, they will go on a goalscoring run."

The Hoops face a defensive crisis for the match which could leave them without both first-choice stoppers against RB Leipzig.

Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt are OUT of today’s home Premiership clash with Motherwell.

Swede Starfelt is also a confirmed absentee for Wednesday’s Champions League tie with Leipzig.

And Carter-Vickers is a doubt for the trip to Germany after pulling out of the US national team’s friendlies against Japan and Saudi Arabia with what US chiefs called a “minor knock”.
